The leadership role the CEO and executive staff should play in developing and maintaining an exemplary institutional learning program

After having researched the area of institutional learning in relation to the CEO and executive staff, it has been made clear to me that the CEO is usually the one who implements institutional learning in the workplace. It is from the CEO and his/her vision that everything flows.
Dr. Gary Oster says in Leading Corporate Innovation “Regardless of the size of a corporation, division, plant, or department, successful innovation is always guided by an inquisitive, knowledgeable, focused, and energetic leader. As Warren Bennis noted, ―Virtually every Great Group has a strong and visionary head.”
It is hereby submitted that the CEO and executive staff set the pace for their organization inclusive of and not limited to the culture as well as any institutional learning that must take place. With this in mind, their role includes developing and maintaining an exemplary institutional learning program The CEO influences the executive staff; the executive staff influences those they lead, and so on and so forth. This process of influence has the ability to continue until the entire organization is permeated by the influence of the CEO.
Therefore “the leadership role the CEO and executive staff should play in developing and maintaining an exemplary institutional learning program” include the actual establishment of such a learning program, as well as the continuous placement of influence upon members of the organization. When this process is repeatedly followed, it not only sets the culture of the organization but allows for it to be ongoing and evolving thereby developing and maintaining an exemplary institutional learning program.
